What is floating?

Floating involves lying back in our floatation room and entering a deep state of relaxation. The ‘floating’ experience is enabled by a high concentration of Epsom salts which enable you to experience weightlessness and float effortlessly. The salt solution is kept at a temperature that matches your skin’s for maximum comfort. Floating offers complete physical and mental relaxation.

What should I expect from my first float?

The first float can be a little daunting and we understand it can be difficult to let go and fully relax. It’s a unique experience – rarely do we get such peace and tranquillity – it takes time to get used to such a luxury. You may be quite self-aware during your first float and take a little time to switch off. Once you’ve immersed yourself in the experience you will feel the liberating feeling of weightlessness and the deepest sense of relaxation ever experienced.

What should I wear?

The float room at Create Your Beauty, Watford is completely self-contained and private, so we recommend you experience floating nude. However, we do understand that isn’t for everyone and can be daunting so you can wear a costume if you prefer. The Float room has its own shower and changing area and is for your exclusive use for the duration of your session.

Who floats?

Our customers range from 18 to 80 and come from all walks of life. There’s no ‘typical’ floating client. The array of health and wellbeing benefits draw in clients for many different reasons. We’ve seen arthritis sufferers, pregnant women and sports people who all enjoy the practical therapeutic healing properties of the salt. We also see a variety of clients who come simply to enjoy the relaxing wellbeing benefits of floating, as their stresses are relieved as they escape the treadmill of daily life.

As the only floatation centre in Watford and one of only three in the county we attract clients from across Hertfordshire and North London.

Isn’t it boring?

Rarely do we get such an opportunity for such peace and relaxation so at first it can be a little strange. But as you let go and relax you will not feel bored and you’ll soon drift leaving your reservations behind.

What if I’m claustrophobic …

At Create Your Beauty we have a float room rather than a tank or pod. The room is big enough to stand up in so you do feel confined. There is a light to the room which you can leave on and you can even leave the door open if you wish. You have complete control over your environment and your experience.

How do you keep the float room clean?

There are very stringent health and safety regulations concerning float rooms that we fully support and comply to. The system we use has a powerful, magnetic-drive pump that filters and cleans the solution a minimum of four times whilst each client is showering and dressing. This ensures the room is totally clean and sterile for each new user.

Does floating suit everyone?

We certainly believe everyone should try floating. It does need a willingness on your part to have a go and to let go, you may need to float a few times before you are able to relax completely, both physically and mentally which is why we recommend clients try a minimum of three float sessions to begin with.

What if I can’t swim?

There is no need to be able to swim. The salt solution enables you to float.

How long should I allow?

The float session lasts an hour in the water, plus showering and dressing time. It’s also important for you to relax for at least 10 minutes after your float. We have a comfortable lounge for you to use afterwards, with complimentary drinks. We suggest you allow a good 1.5 hours the first session, perhaps a little less from the 2nd float, as we don’t need to explain everything over again.

What should I bring?

Floating requires a willingness to let go – bring an open mind, a tired body and the float room will do the rest. We provide towels, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and a hairdryer for your convenience.
